Architectural apparel, drafted like a building
VANTA began as an argument between two disciplines. It has stayed there ever since.
Every garment is a standing structure
VANTA was founded by an architect and a pattern cutter who could not agree on where a shoulder should sit. The architect wanted a lintel — a horizontal member that carries load and stays level regardless of what happens beneath it. The cutter wanted a shoulder that followed the body. The first VANTA jacket was the compromise, and it is still in the permanent collection.
That argument became the method. Every piece begins on a drafting table as a set of load paths: where the garment carries weight, where it needs to stay rigid, where it is allowed to move. Only then does it become a pattern. The result is clothing that reads as structure rather than drapery — and that keeps its geometry long after softer garments have given up.
We release two collections a year and repair anything we have ever made. Pieces withdrawn from the permanent collection move to the archive, where they are sold once and never restocked.
Negative space is a material. Precision is a courtesy. A garment that lasts twenty years is worth four that last five. We would rather make fewer pieces and stand behind every one of them than fill a calendar.
What we hold to
Structural drafting
Every pattern is drafted from load paths first. If a seam is not doing structural work, it is removed.
Single-source fabric
Fabrics come from four mills we have worked with since the first collection. No substitutions between runs.
Finished by hand
Collars, clasps and structural edges are finished by hand in the studio. Nothing leaves without a second pair of eyes.
Made to be kept
We repair anything we make, for as long as we make it. The archive is a commitment, not a season.
How the studio started
The disagreement
An architect and a pattern cutter argue about where a shoulder belongs. The first jacket is the compromise.
The studio opens
Four people, one room in Clifton, and a rule that nothing ships without a second pair of eyes.
The permanent collection
We stop working in seasons. Pieces stay in production until they are withdrawn to the archive.
Repairs for life
The repair guarantee becomes unconditional for anything still in production, return postage included.
Five standing bodies
Menswear, womenswear, kids, sports and the first layer — one structural discipline across all five.
Eleven people in one room in Karachi.

Materials
Single-source fabric
We buy from four mills and name all of them on request. Offcuts go into the kids collection or back to the mill. Every garment carries a repair guarantee for as long as the piece is in production, and the studio pays return postage on repairs.
